Nilai, Negeri Sembilan | 11 July 2025 — As part of its commitment to building meaningful global academic partnerships, MILA University recently hosted a 30-member delegation from Nanyang Technological University (NTU), highlighting the strength of the Nanyang Technological University ranking (#12 in the QS World University Rankings) as a strategic partner to advance cross-border academic opportunities and enrich the student experience.

The dialogue included Prof. Dr. Lee Chew Ging, Deputy Vice Chancellor and Dean of the School of Management and Business, and Dr. Yang Juanjuan (Jenny), Deputy Vice Chancellor, Student Affairs and IT, representing MILA University, together with Mr. Jensen Tan Kian Chong, Deputy Director of the Alumni Engagement Office at Nanyang Technological University, alongside senior leaders and alumni representatives of the institution.

Both universities shared insights on how higher education institutions can stay agile in a fast-evolving landscape, ensuring programmes remain closely aligned with industry demand and digital transformation in Malaysia.

Key Highlights from the Visit

To guide future collaboration, MILA University and Nanyang Technological University identified several strategic areas of focus:

  • Exploring MILA University’s approach to align internal growth strategies with external changes in the education market
  • Highlighting the integration of AI-powered teaching and big data analytics into curriculum and operations
  • Discussing opportunities for student mobility, especially in the Sichuan–Chongqing corridor
  • Sharing approaches to uphold academic quality during institutional transitions
  • Emphasising how alumni networks contribute to graduate employability in Malaysia and foster stronger industry connections

From Dialogue to Digital Transformation

Beyond courtesy, this engagement reflected MILA University’s broader vision of embedding business digitalisation from the very start of each student’s journey. By integrating AI-powered teaching and learning with big data and analytics, MILA ensures its academic model stays aligned with industry evolution and equips graduates for careers shaped by automation, data and high-tech innovation.

This digital-first approach positions MILA University as more than an institution delivering curriculum; it creates an adaptive learning ecosystem where students gain technical expertise, critical thinking and real-world problem-solving skills that translate into higher employability.

Expanding Global Networks and Cross-Border Opportunities

The visit also opened discussions on enhancing student mobility, particularly with the Sichuan–Chongqing region, reinforcing MILA University’s commitment to building global connections. These partnerships extend beyond traditional exchanges, creating pathways that expose students to diverse industries, cultural fluency and high-tech environments, ultimately giving them an international edge.

Aligned with earlier initiatives such as study trips to China and Canada, these collaborations demonstrate MILA’s focus on providing students with opportunities that cross disciplines and national boundaries, preparing them to thrive in a connected world.

Shaping an Entrepreneurial, Industry-Ready Graduate

Central to these conversations was MILA University’s dedication to interdisciplinary innovation and nurturing an entrepreneurial mindset. By encouraging students to collaborate across business, technology and creative fields, MILA prepares graduates not only to enter industries but to shape and redefine them. This culture of innovation closely aligns education with real-world challenges, producing graduates who become problem solvers and creators rather than job seekers alone.

Reinforcing an International Vision

The engagement with Nanyang Technological University complements MILA University’s ongoing efforts to strengthen international partnerships and extend its global reach. This direction aligns with recent milestones, including MILA University’s strategic engagement with Education Malaysia Global Services (EMGS), which focused on enhancing student mobility and cross-border collaboration. Together, these initiatives reflect MILA University’s commitment to building an interconnected academic environment that blends digital transformation in Malaysia, industry relevance and global networks to prepare students for careers shaped by innovation and international opportunity.
