Aceh, Indonesia – 9 July 2026 – MILA University expanded its international academic engagement through a Visiting Lecture delivered by Dr. Pratheep Sandrasaigaran from MILA University’s School of Biotechnology at Universitas Islam Negeri (UIN) Ar-Raniry in Aceh, Indonesia, on 9 July 2026.
The lecture formed part of MILA University’s research engagement programme in Aceh, following a series of academic activities with partner institutions in the region. Beyond facilitating knowledge exchange, the visit also provided an opportunity to establish a new academic connection with UIN Ar-Raniry and explore potential collaboration in education and research.
Exploring Biotechnology Solutions to Global Challenges
During the Visiting Lecture, Dr. Pratheep delivered a presentation titled “From Lab to Planet: Biotechnological Innovations Shaping Health, Agriculture, Industry, and Sustainability.”
The lecture highlighted recent developments in biotechnology and their potential to address global challenges across different sectors. Dr. Pratheep shared insights into molecular biotechnology, genetic engineering, healthcare and agricultural innovations, industrial biotechnology, and the role of biotechnology in supporting environmental sustainability and the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
By connecting developments across these fields, the session also encouraged knowledge exchange and discussion on how advances in biotechnology can contribute to practical solutions in health, agriculture, industry, and environmental sustainability.
Extending the Dialogue Beyond the Lecture
Building on the knowledge shared during the lecture, Dr. Pratheep engaged with UIN Ar-Raniry’s academic leaders and researchers to discuss potential areas for collaboration between the two institutions.
The discussions explored opportunities for joint research projects, academic mobility programmes, visiting scholar initiatives, and other academic activities, while allowing researchers and academics from both universities together to share their expertise and identify areas of mutual interest.
