MILA University Strengthens Internationalisation Strategy Through Strategic Engagement with EMGS

Expanding Global Visibility, Enhancing Student Mobility, and Aligning with National Education Goals

MILA University continues to reinforce its commitment to global education pathways through a courtesy visit to Education Malaysia Global Services (EMGS), marking a strategic milestone in the university’s internationalisation efforts. The visit, led by Professor Dr. Cao Fei, Chief Executive Officer of MILA University, aimed to deepen collaboration with EMGS to enhance recruitment for international students in Malaysia, streamline visa support systems, and strengthen MILA’s visibility among students seeking the best courses to study in Malaysia.

The University’s delegation included Ms. Anis Laila Yap, Chief Operating Officer; Mr. Eddie Choo, Vice President of Marketing and Student Enrolment; and Dr. Sean Calvin Yong, Director of the International Student Enrolment Office, reflecting the institution’s unified focus on cross-border student engagement, visa readiness, and administrative innovation.

A Candid Conversation on Global Education

Over conversation, Mr. Novie Tajuddin, CEO of EMGS, painted a vivid picture of today’s international landscape: rising curiosity about Malaysia globally, where students are eager for flexible learning; parents searching for value without compromising quality. His insights were met with nods and thoughtful questions from the MILA’s team, sparking a collaborative brainstorming session that felt more like a think‑tank than a formal meeting.

One theme came through loud and clear: speed matters. Whether a learner is picking an on‑campus programme or MILA’s tech‑enabled Open and Distance Learning (ODL) degrees, a seamless visa process can be the deciding factor.

Turning Shared Vision into Action

Together, EMGS and MILA University outlined several high-impact priorities to better support prospective international students:

  • Showcasing Malaysia, Together
Co-hosting virtual education fair and regional info sessions that highlight Malaysia’s quality education and safe, welcoming environment.
  • Malaysia Visa Application Support
Piloting fast-track e-submission options for both Open and Distance Learning (ODL) and on-campus applicants to minimise delays and enhance transparency.
  • Speaking Students’ Language
Launching tailored digital campaigns on platforms students already use.
  • Staying in Sync
Coordinating monthly updates between MILA University and EMGS to resolve student processing bottlenecks.

Why This Matters for International Students in Malaysia

For international students considering where to study next, this partnership is more than just good news—it’s a signal that MILA University and Malaysia are actively working to make your study experience smoother, faster, and more supportive from the start.

When universities in Malaysia and national agencies move in unison, Malaysia’s promise of quality, affordable, globally recognised education, it becomes a lived reality.

That promise is already taking shape at MILA. Earlier this year, the university launched its Career Services Centre, designed to help students connect with real-world job opportunities and mentorship from their first semester, all the way through graduation and beyond.

Looking Ahead, with Global Students in Mind

The meeting concluded with a sense of shared optimism and purpose. For MILA University, the future is not only about expanding its reach—it’s about doing right by every student it welcomes, no matter where they come from or how they choose to learn.

As conversations with EMGS continue, one thing is clear: international students are at the heart of this collaboration. Together, the two institutions are building pathways where students can access world-class Malaysian education, backed by smooth processes, responsive systems, and a genuine culture of care.

Because at the end of every strategy, checklist, or visa form, there’s a person with a dream and at MILA University, that dream matters.
