Driving Sustainability, Innovation, and Academic Excellence for a Future-Ready Campus

Nilai, Negeri Sembilan – 21 January 2026 – MILA University marked the beginning of 2026 with its Staff Town Hall 2026, bringing together staff members to review the University’s achievements and outline its strategic direction for the year ahead.
 
The Town Hall also served as a platform to introduce key priorities that will shape the University’s future, including a strengthened commitment to sustainability, “Go Green” campus initiative.

 

MILA University Town Hall 2026: Reflecting on Progress and Future Direction

The session provided a comprehensive overview of MILA University’s progress and future plans.

During the session:

  • Professor Dr. Cao Fei, Chief Executive Officer (CEO), presented a review of the University’s achievements in 2025
  • Mr. Cao Qi, Deputy Chief Executive Officer (DCEO), outlined the strategic direction for 2026
  • Ms. Anis Laila Yap, Chief Operating Officer (COO), introduced the key Result Areas that will guide operations in the coming year

The event concluded with the MILA University Research Excellence Award 2025, presented by Vice Chancellor Professor Dr. Graham Kendall, recognising faculty members for their outstanding contributions to research, innovation, and academic impact.

 

A Step Towards a Greener Campus

A key highlight of the Town Hall was the unveiling of MILA University’s “Go Green” campus initiative, marking a significant step in the University’s sustainability journey. Presented by the Deputy CEO, Mr. Cao Qi, the initiative reflects a forward-thinking approach to campus development that balances environmental responsibility with academic excellence.

As part of this direction, MILA is placing greater emphasis on sustainable development in its future planning.

Key areas of focus include:

  • Exploring clean energy solutions, such as solar power
  • Enhancing energy efficiency though smarter systems
  • Incorporating sustainable materials into campus infrastructure
  • Strengthening energy monitoring and optimisation practices

Together, these efforts aim to reduce environmental impact while ensuring that students and staff continue to benefit from a comfortable and supportive learning and working environment.

The University is also taking steps to better monitor and optimise energy usage across campus, making sustainability a part of everyday operations rather than a long-term aspiration.

In addition to the sustainability initiative, the Town Hall also highlighted the academic contributions through the MILA University Research Excellence Awards 2025.

The MILA University Research Excellence Award 2025 recognised faculty members who have made significant contributions in:

  • Industry and societal impact

These achievements reflect MILA’s growing research culture and its dedication to advancing knowledge in meaningful ways.
