Academic & Research Pathway
Graduates of this programme are well-prepared to progress into Doctoral studies (PhD) in Biotechnology or other related disciplines. While MILA offers pathways into Doctor of Philosophy in Engineering (by Research), students may also choose to pursue doctoral studies in biotechnology, life sciences, or interdisciplinary fields at other universities in Malaysia or internationally.
This flexibility ensures that your MSc qualification from MILA serves as a strong academic foundation for both research and career advancement globally.
Entry Requirements
| Bachelor’s Degree | A Bachelor’s degree (Level 6, MQF) in a related field with a minimum CGPA of 2.75 or equivalent, as accepted by the HEP Senate;
OR |
| A Bachelor’s degree (Level 6, MQF) in a related field or equivalent with at least CGPA of 2.50 and has not achieved CGPA of 2.75;
OR |

| A Bachelor’s degree (Level 6, MQF) in related field but has not achieved CGPA of 2.50, or its equivalent can be accepted subject to a minimum of 5 years working experience in relevant field;
OR |

| Others | Other qualifications equivalent to a Bachelor’s degree (Level 6, MQF) recognised by the Malaysian Government |

Programme Structure
This is a research mode programme. Students will be primarily engaged in independent research under the supervision of experienced faculty, with the support of MILA’s advanced biotechnology labs.
Year 1
- Research Methodology (compulsory module)
- Research (proposal defence, literature review)
Year 2 and Beyond
- Full-time Research (data collection, analysis, thesis writing, and viva voce)
