Strengthening Global Ties: University of New Brunswick Visits MILA University. A meaningful visit that sparks new academic opportunities

Nilai, Negeri Sembilan – 17 October 2025 – MILA University is honoured to host representatives from the University of New Brunswick (UNB), one of its long-standing and valued international partners. The visit marked another step in strengthening cooperation and creating more academic opportunities between both institutions.

UNB Representatives

Representing the University of New Brunswick were:

  • Dr. John A. Kershaw, Jr. – Assistant Vice President Academic (Partnerships)
  • Mr. Assad David – Director of Pathway Programs, Global Learning and Engagement

Their visit reflected UNB’s commitment to growing its partnership with MILA University and exploring new areas of collaboration.

Fostering International Collaboration

During the half-day session, both universities discussed plans to expand student exchange programmes, initiate joint research projects, and develop staff exchange for teaching and learning.

These discussions show MILA University’s strong commitment to building global learning and the sharing of ideas, knowledge, and experiences among students and academics. We hope that  it serves as a catalyst in shaping graduates who can thrive in an increasingly interconnected world.

Ongoing Student Engagement

There were two MILA students who joined the exchange programmes at UNB last year, with one of them pursuing their education at this institution. These opportunities help students to gain international experience, learn from different academic settings, and to appreciate diverse cultures.

Such collaborations mean access to diverse learning environments, exposure to different teaching philosophies, and the opportunity to engage in research that tackles issues from a global perspective.

These experiences not only build academic depth but also nurture adaptability, cultural intelligence, and leadership, one of the most prominent key skills for the future workforce.

Looking Ahead

This visit ended on a positive note, with both universities eager to continue working together on new projects and academic initiatives. MILA University and the University of New Brunswick look forward to strengthening their partnership further and creating more opportunities for students and staff in the years ahead.
